Burma Headhunters is a report about the Wa people during a time when ancient tribal life could still be observed. Written by Harold Mason Young who was located in the regions of Burma and China (1901 - 1950) after being born of missionary parents in Kengtung, Burma. Fluent in many languages, the author lived closely with the native people and was culturally more integrated with them than his own American ancestry. During the many years he lived in Burma and the Yunnan province of China, the author accumulated knowledge and appreciation for the Wa tribal ways as few other foreigners from the outside world would accomplish during this time in history. For students of disappearing cultures, this perspective offers considerable information. Written in Young's candid style it provides an interesting and very entertaining read for anyone.
